Wisconsin Dog With ‘Please Help’ Note On Collar Leaps Into Police Vehicle

A deeply emotional event in Platteville, Wisconsin, brings attention to the ongoing issue of abandoned and stray dogs needing urgent care and compassion to protect their lives.

All across the country, countless pets are left to survive on their own, each carrying a different backstory and likely emotional scars.

Lola was one such soul, grabbing her chance at rescue in the most unforgettable way.

‘Bring Me To A Shelter…’

On the 25th of August 2023, the Platteville Police Department (PPD), in Wisconsinshared the story of a dog found abandoned in their area.

While responding to calls about stray animals is a regular duty for local officers, this case stood out because of an unusual detail—a message came with the dog.

When the officer arrived at Mound View Park and Campground, the pup didn’t hesitate. She walked right up and jumped straight into the squad car.

“This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” said in the Facebook post.

But something on the pink collar around her neck immediately caught the officer’s eye.

“Upon further inspection, the officer discovered this note attached to the pink collar the dog was wearing,” the post added.

Attached to the collar of the dog was a handwritten note, which read:

“Please help. Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.”

Reading the message and seeing the dog’s gentle expression was heartbreaking for the responding officer.

It was clear she had been left behind, and according to the municipal ordinance, it’s against the law in Platteville.

A Heartfelt Update On Lola

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in finding Lola’s original “owners”. We would like to speak with them. Thank you in advance,” the police department said.

Lola’s story quickly spread, capturing hearts everywhere. People wanted to know how anyone could leave behind such a sweet pup.

While the PPD continued its inquiry, Lola was brought to Platteville Veterinary Clinic, where staff began searching for her future home.

Thankfully, it didn’t take long. Just a week later, Lola’s luck had turned.

Both the police department and the vet clinic shared an uplifting update: Lola had been adopted into a loving forever home.

To sweet Lola—we hope your days ahead are filled with love, and may you never be left behind again.
