What started as a typical evening turned into something unforgettable for Jen Edmondson, a resident of southeastern Texas.
As she stepped outside her home, she walked past her mailbox, only to catch a glimpse of two large, black eyes staring out from the bushes nearby.
Puzzled, she moved a bit closer, and that’s when she saw him: an adorable white dog, silently pleading for help with his gentle gaze.
He Was All Alone In This World
The dog appeared to be lost, but his calm and affectionate demeanor hinted that he once had a family. Jen instinctively took a video of the pup and shared it online, hoping someone might recognize and claim him.
“Found him alone and wandering. Turns out he’s super sweet, but no one has claimed him. So we’re fostering him with a local rescue organization,” wrote Jen on her TikTok account.
As more people chimed in, it became clear that others had also seen the dog roaming around town. Still, no one seemed to know where he had come from, or whether he had a home.
That’s when Jen knew she had to act.
A Foster Home Becomes A Safe Haven
Jen agreed to foster the pup temporarily and brought him in for a veterinary checkup. The vet confirmed he was a two-year-old Great Pyrenees and recommended she work with Columbus Rescue Dogs in Columbus, Texas, to foster him through proper channels.
She happily obliged.
But soon, a small challenge emerged for Jen.
What began as a short-term solution quickly turned into something deeper. Jen found herself growing attached to the dog, who she later named Gibbous, inspired by the glowing gibbous moon that lit up the sky the night they met.
“If I’m being honest, I’m falling in love! He is the sweetest dog and he’s always smiling at me! So we’re getting pretty close to a foster fail here. I’m too vested in this sweet, happy gentle giant,” wrote Jen.
Each day, Gibbous grew more relaxed and at ease in Jen’s presence, and it was clear the bond was mutual.
Gibbous Becomes a Forever Pup
After several months of fostering and getting Gibbous ready for adoption, Jen realized she couldn’t let him go.
With no one stepping forward to claim him and her own heart fully invested, she made the decision to officially adopt him.
Gibbous had found his forever home, and it was exactly where he belonged.
Settling Into His New Life
These days, Gibbous is loving life. He has a big yard to play in, but what he adores most is being close to Jen.
He’s a fan of car rides, leisurely walks, and playtime with his new mom. While he can be a bit stubborn at times, his charming smile ensures he gets away with it.
“Life is good for this rescue foster Gibbous. Hes sooooo good at car rides, outdoor dining, loving people,” says his momma.
Seeing Gibbous thriving in his new home is heartwarming. We wish him and his mom a lifetime of happiness and joy together.
