Passerby Noticed A Still Figure Curled On A Tarp Near A California Metro Station Then Realized What It Was

While boarding a train at a metro station in California, a compassionate passerby noticed a tarp on the stairs and quickly realized a strange, hairless creature was curled up on top of it.

As they got closer, it became clear the creature was a dog with painful-looking, wrinkled skin.

She didn’t react to the person approaching—clearly accustomed to being overlooked.

But this time, someone was determined to help, and they knew just who to contact.

The kind stranger reached out to longtime rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, and asked if she could help the dog.

Hall and her team quickly made a plan to rescue the pup, soon naming her Sadie Rose.

Volunteer Arturo Flores, who was nearest to the metro station, headed over immediately.

He arrived around sunset and tried to capture Sadie Rose, but she bolted toward the drive-thru of a nearby fast food spot.

Despite his efforts to locate her, she seemed to vanish.

The next morning, Hall arrived at the metro to continue the search herself, but Sadie Rose was nowhere to be found.

She kept looking and eventually spotted the dog, who looked exhausted as she dragged her paws along the pavement.

Hall stepped out and carefully set up multiple humane traps, doing her best to avoid startling her.

She then waited in her car, hoping the smell of tasty treats would bring Sadie Rose close.

The hungry pup came near the trap several times, but people passing by spooked her each time sending her running off again.

Hall feared she might get hit by a car.

“Each time she would almost go into my trap, a person would show up and scare her away. And [then] she would go [cross] the street, so many times, almost getting hit by a car,” Hall wrote on Facebook.

After being startled repeatedly, Sadie Rose disappeared again.

Hall drove through the neighborhood for hours, refusing to give up. She couldn’t bear to leave the dog out there for another night.

Rescue At Last

She made the decision to check the dog’s second go-to hiding spot and headed over to the fast-food restaurant, hoping she might find her there.

When she arrived, Hall felt a wave of relief as she spotted Sadie Rose moving slowly. It was clear the pup was growing weak as she made her way into someone’s yard.

Determined not to lose her again, Hall quickly parked her car and blocked off the yard using baby gates.

The homeowner offered their assistance, and together they managed to corner the dog and watch as she finally stepped into the trap.

Once inside the crate, Sadie Rose looked at ease. After spending so much time out on the streets, she felt a sense of security. It was as if she knew that her hard life on the streets had finally come to a close.

Hall drove her straight to the vet. Sadie Rose was diagnosed with mange and began treatment immediately, though she needed to be kept isolated.

Her caretakers showered her with love as she recovered.

As she started to improve, Sadie Rose’s gentle and loving personality began to shine.

“She is absolutely beautiful and the most lovable girl I have ever met. She matters so much, and I won’t give up [on] her,” Hall added.

After over a month of care, she moved into a foster home to continue healing.

Her foster mom, Karen de Grandmaison, gives her endless affection.

Once she’s fully recovered and her fur grows back, Sadie Rose will be ready to find a forever home.

Until then, she’s enjoying her cozy foster life—basking in the sun and soaking up all the love.
