This is the story of one tiny dog who spent weeks on a dangerous freeway ramp, braving traffic and hunger each day, all while holding on to the hope that someone, someday, would come to save her.
A Risky Rescue On The Freeway
When veteran California rescuer Suzette Hall heard about a tiny dog living dangerously close to the freeway, she didn’t waste a second. Concerned for the pup’s safety, she raced to the scene.
“The neighbors said she had been living on the on ramp for weeks. So dangerous and she is so tiny,” Hall shared in a Facebook post.
As Hall exited the freeway, she spotted the little dog nearby.
Startled by the activity, the pup darted under a parked car, seeking refuge in the only safe space she could find.
Peeking beneath the car, Hall locked eyes with the small dog—and was immediately struck by the sadness in her expression.
Without hesitation, Hall set up a humane trap, hoping the scent of tasty food would entice the hungry pup inside.
Still, she knew how risky the situation was. If the dog bolted, she could run straight toward the freeway.
“I was so worried she was going to run back to freeway. I literally just prayed, set my trap and went to hide,” Hall said.
From Danger to Safety
Thankfully, the trap worked. Desperate for food, the starving pup quickly made her way inside.
As the door clicked shut, Hall approached slowly, gently speaking to the pup to let her know she was finally safe.
Coated in grease and crawling with fleas, the little dog looked up at her rescuer with tired eyes—pleading for help.
Hall carefully lifted her and placed her in the passenger seat of her car. The pup didn’t resist—she sat quietly, her eyes full of relief and gratitude.
As they drove off, Hall made a promise: this sweet girl would never have to face the world alone again.
It was as if the tiny dog already understood—she was finally out of danger, and her life was about to change for good.
Hall took her straight to the vet, where she would receive a full medical evaluation and the care she so desperately needed.
With time, healing, and a little love, there’s no doubt this brave little survivor will find the forever home she’s always deserved.
