Unlike puppies, who are still learning about life, adult rescues have this hauntingly adorable need to bond with the person who gives them a chance. It’s as if they’re trying to say a huge “Thank you” for finally seeing the light of day after being confined to a small, tiny kennel.
Christie Williams, a proud owner of five dogs from California, recently experienced this firsthand when she locked eyes with Sarah, the shelter Pittie.
This euthanasia-listed dog had almost given up on life. But when Christie decided to give her a chance, Sarah’s reaction was so emotional that it left millions of people sobbing tears of joy!
From Animal Control To Loving Family
Christie definitely didn’t mean to adopt another dog, as she already had a whole pack at home.
On the one-year memorial of her beloved dog, she decided to volunteer at a high-euthanasia local shelter in California, as a way of honoring his life. Christie intended to give one dog in need a freedom ride to a rescue, but everything changed when she saw Sarah.
The two bonded immediately. Sarah literally begged Christie to hug her and couldn’t let go. The two spent some beautiful moments together until it was time for Christie to leave.
The next day, she learned that the pup was actually scheduled for euthanasia due to kennel stress.
Christie, who never planned to bring another dog home, made the decision instantly. She saved Sarah’s life and adopted her, giving this striking Pittie a new chance at life.
As the two sat in the car, a heartwarming moment unfolded – and Christie was able to capture it on camera. Sarah, who realized she was finally being rescued, gave her new mom the sweetest hug ever! And then she held onto it.
“She shook when she climbed into my lap and hugged me so hard. We sat in the parking lot for about an hour while I reassured her she was safe. She pushed her head deep into my neck and held on for dear life,” Christie wrote in the TikTok video she later shared with her followers.
In about a week, an even more amazing thing happened! Christie’s video went viral, garnering millions of views worldwide – and making Sarah a real social-media sweetheart.
People were thrilled to see this once-euthanasia-listed dog receiving the first hug of many. It was so emotional! Sarah definitely found her comfort in Christie, and she didn’t shy away from showing it.
Sarah’s New Chapter
Now an official member of the pack, Sarah is happier than ever. Her past trauma and stress are definitely behind her. And even though she had a terrible start in life, this lovely Pittie is a genuinely sweet and gentle dog.
“She had a terrible start, was absolutely used for breeding and then discarded. She is perfect to me. Adopt an adult dog, they are truly the best,” Christie concluded in the post.
Today, Sarah is all about enjoying her life to the fullest.
She absolutely loves sunbathing, lounging on comfy spots and taking cozy naps in her bed. However, she’s also a huge fan of pup cups and city walks, which kind of makes her an ideal pet.
As a part of a big family, Sarah gets along with everyone. She’s a well-behaved girl who just appreciates the chance to start all over. From now on, happiness will be all she knows!
