Life can be very rough for dogs who spend a long time in the shelter. The constant noise, the lack of space and not enough freedom can all cause immense stress.
This is just something that they have to deal with, as their rescuers are trying their best to keep all pups occupied and happy until they find their forever home.
However, sometimes, certain dogs will become proactive and try to lure in potential adopters. Usually, they try by doing sweet gestures and sometimes that works.
This dog from Oklahoma tried to get people to help her by doing something truly heartbreaking from her kennel.
He Is Desperate For Freedom
After rescuers from Oklahoma City Animal Welfare saved a pup, they noticed that the pup was very eager to leave from the start.
The kind shelter staff knew virtually nothing about this dog. The only thing they knew was that she was at least six or seven months old.
She didn’t even have a name or anything, so they placed her in a kennel and tried their best to find a home for her.
As days went by, one of the foster carers, Kayla Winrow, was in the shelter when she first spotted this adorable dog. She noticed something heartbreaking.
This pup had a habit of reaching out with her paws through the bottom of the kennel door whenever someone walked by.
She believed that the pup did this because she was hoping that someone would reach out and give her a chance. She wants to start over and live with someone who cares for her.
It was clear that this place was making her feel very anxious and no one is sure how long she was going to have to stay here.
Many People Reached Out In Support
In order to help this dog, the kind foster carer from Oklahoma posted a video on her TikTok channel in hopes that this would raise enough awareness to help her find a home.
The video did get really popular, but it wasn’t yet clear if someone had offered to adopt this beautiful dog.
One person commented: “Omg his little paws. praying this sweet baby is saved and finds a loving forever/foster home he can thrive in, he’s so gorgeous, his little face. if you are local or in the US please consider fostering or adopting to save lives”
Well, here’s to hoping that she does find an amazing home and someone gives her the love and attention that she deserves.
Another person said: “This pup definitely wants to go places. So sweet and beautiful.”
Yeah, just seeing how she reaches out with her paws is heartbreaking. It’s clear that this is not the kind of life she was used to. She is longing for freedom.
Lastly, somebody commented: “This shelter always stops me on my fyp… so many incredible babies and such small kennels where they can’t feel any lovings. Shelters are trying ya’ll but we need fosters and adopters more than ever.”
Yes, it’s important to clarify that the shelter staff are doing their best to help out all dogs, but it’s not easy for them either. A lot of work goes into this and we need to be more understanding of their situation.
Nevertheless, with how quickly this short video is growing, I am also becoming more hopeful that this dog will find a better future sometime soon.
