Timid Rescue Pup Struggled To Find Home, So Massachusetts Volunteer Performed Heartwarming Gesture

Getting to know dogs is not always an easy task. Every one of them is different and they require a delicate approach if you really want to get to learn more about them.

Some pups are naturally more timid, while others can be really outgoing and playful, regardless of who they are with. They can have so many different personalities.

This means that it’s important to adjust to our pups because it can help them build trust in us, and I think that’s the most important factor for any owner.

When this fearful pup was sent to a shelter in Massachusetts, she was overwhelmed in this environment, but then she met someone who changed everything.

She Felt Only Fear

When Mike Byrnes first met Roxie, he noted that their meeting was just ‘dreadful.’ This pup was poorly socialized, so she had no skills whatsoever.

She didn’t know how to behave around other dogs or people. She would mostly bark at anyone she didn’t like, and this happened plenty of times.

This didn’t bother Mike at all. In fact, he preferred to help dogs who have behavioral issues because it means he gets to help them rehabilitate and fit into this world.

After that, he would visit Roxie at least twice a week in the shelter. He wanted to ease her into his presence and take things slowly.

She was 8 years old, so she didn’t have a lot of patience left. It took him several visits to get her to warm up to him. They were slowly becoming good friends.

It took even more weeks for Roxie to let Mike put a leash on her, but she eventually did, and this was huge progress.

Now that their relationship was progressing faster, he would take her on walks more often, and Roxie was happy to play outside for as long as she could.

Knowing how much he started caring for this dog, Mike wanted to adopt her immediately, but he lived in a place in Massachusetts that didn’t allow dogs, so that was a problem.

Roxie Received The Best News

He also knew that she would not get along with new people that easily, so that was also a problem, but it wasn’t the end.

Mike was actually saving up for a new house where he could move in with Roxie. It was going to take a while, but he was patient.

In the meantime, he would continuously visit and take her on playdates. He even went to a pet-friendly hotel where he allowed her to stay and relax, just so she could be outside of the shelter.

Some time had gone by, and Mike had bought his new house. The moment that happened, he took Roxie to her new forever home.

Even though she was not officially adopted yet, it was pretty much a done deal. She was so happy to finally be out of that shelter.

Her transformation from a fearful pup to one filled with joy is just amazing. Mike proved that all she needed was care and patience.

He also knew that she was the perfect dog who just wanted to love and be loved. This is why he was the perfect human for her. I am happy everything turned out so well for her.
