It doesn’t happen every day that you see an animal standing on a rooftop, so you can imagine how stunned a resident in a New Jersey neighborhood was when they spotted an unusual furry creature on the roof of a house.
When the neighbor looked closer, they realized that the unusual-looking animal was actually a matted and malnourished puppy.
The pup, later named Fiddler, walked along the roof’s shingles as if he were hoping that someone would notice him and rush to his aid.
The resident took a photo of him, posted it on Facebook, and asked for help.
Meeting His Heroes
Fortunately, good people rushed to the family address to rescue Fiddler.
Although the pup knew that he needed help, he was frightened and confused when he saw them.
The rescuers talked to him in a soft voice that eventually melted Fiddler’s heart. The pup sensed that they were the people he had been waiting for.
Fiddler was exhausted and so malnourished that his ribs were protruding through his body.
The pup was taken to a local overcrowded shelter where he was left on a stray hold for seven days, but nobody claimed him.
Thankfully, the wonderful team at Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland, New Jersey, pulled him from the shelter and took over his care.
Shortly after meeting his heroes, Fiddler started to show his adorable and playful nature.
The team could tell that the puppy was a fighter who was full of life. He just wanted someone to love him.
“Fiddler is pure spirit. He wants to play. To love. To live,” Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge wrote in a Facebook post.
The rescue crew gave him the care he needed. First, they combed and trimmed his matted fur and gave him a thorough examination.
The vet team put him on a special feeding schedule so that the pup could put on weight.
Fiddler’s caregivers looked after him and showered him with love. The puppy felt secure, and he felt that his life would change for the better.
Looking Forward To A New Life
Little by little, the pup began thriving, and his eyes glimmered with hope. He was healthier and more energetic.
Fiddler was an entirely different pup who was spreading joy everywhere he went.
“He is a typical silly puppy — tall, lanky, awkward and endlessly charming. Fiddler loves playing with other dogs, soaking up attention and bouncing around with a goofy joy that’s contagious,” a representative from the rescue told The Dodo.
In order to be completely happy, Fiddler needs a forever home and humans who will love him like he deserves.
His ideal match would be a family who would be patient with him and eager to work on his training.
The puppy is ready to erase all memories from his old and difficult life on the streets and start a new life from scratch.
