It takes very little to change a dog’s entire life. Sometimes, it’s only a call or a text.
When Lacy Dagerath, a dog rescuer from Houston, Texas, received a tag in the post about a dog lying helplessly by a busy highway, she responded immediately.
She drove to the other side of Houston late at night, only to find Titus in what could only be described as a harrowing situation.
Inches Away From Fatal Destiny
Lacy was completely heartbroken to see Titus curled up in the grass. He was lying next to his deceased friend, who was hit by a car, which only made things more devastating.
“I was tagged in this post last night, so at 10:45 we drove to the other side of Houston to find him. We drove past him once. He was curled up sleeping and we didn’t see him. He was close to his friend who had been hit by a car. He didn’t make it,” Lacy wrote in the post.
As Titus was extremely malnourished, he couldn’t move at all. When Lacy approached him, he only wagged his tail and gave her a warm look, as if he were trying to say, “Thank you for your kindness.”
The next thing he knew was a comfy car seat – and a drive to a new life.
Lacy decided to keep Titus overnight and try to find his family early in the morning. As soon as they woke up, she and her family alerted the humane society, posted flyers, and scanned Titus for a microchip.
Sadly, there were no results.
In the meantime, this sweet boy spent a couple more weeks in Lacy’s home, adjusting to a big pack of her rescue dogs and cats.
Soon enough, he became an unavoidable part of it – and everyone fell in love with his sweet and goofy personality.
Even after an extensive search for weeks, nobody claimed Titus. So, Lacy and the family decided to step up and extend him a friendly hand one more time: by adopting him permanently!
Titus Is Finally Home
Even though they didn’t know it at the time, Titus was a member of the family all along, and now he was officially welcomed into his new home.
Lacy and the rest of her family members couldn’t be happier to have him around. Titus has a wonderful personality, gets along with absolutely everyone (including the cats), and his zest for life is incredible.
In her Instagram account, Lacy posts daily videos of her pack, showing Titus’ hilarious shenanigans with the rest of the family. And sure, sometimes he “crosses the line” with shoe chewing or extensive barking. But even so, the family loves him no matter what!
“They are worth more than any shoe, any staircase, any sofa… I’d rescue a thousand times and go barefoot forever if I could save them all,” Lacy stated in another post.
After everything he had been through, Titus is more than happy to finally have a family of his own, and his momma couldn’t be more thankful for saving him!
