Missouri Rescuers Heard Cries Coming From Wreckage Left By The Tornado And Then Something Furry Emerged

We love our furry companions unconditionally and do our best to keep them safe. These loyal and sweet creatures aren’t just pets… they’re beloved family members.

Regrettably, not all pet owners think like that. Some of them mistreat their pets and put their lives in danger without feeling any compassion.

Today’s story is about a pup whose owners abandoned her when a tornado hit St. Louis, Missouri.

They ran to look for shelter without caring for what happened to their dog. What’s even worse, the heartless people left her tied with a padlock so she had no way of escaping.

The heartbroken pup would have given anything to be somewhere safe and to have someone hold her in their arms, but unfortunately, she was all alone.

Alone In The Storm

When the trees started crashing around the doggo, she was terrified. She wished to run and save her life, but the chains kept her in place.

Once the storm passed, leaving destruction behind, the neighbors heard harrowing cries coming from the pile of fallen trees.

When they approached, they were stunned to find a dog peeking out of the rubble.

The good people immediately reached out to the rescuers at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, asking for help.

The rescuers rushed to save her. When they reached the location and heard the dog whining, their hearts shattered.

“[B]ehind an abandoned house, a dog was chained up with padlocks around her neck and trapped beneath fallen trees. She’s crying for help,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on Facebook.

The team started talking to the pup in a gentle voice, letting her know that she was not alone anymore. Once she heard them, the doggo lifted her head and peered through the brush.

The rescuers felt heartbroken for her. She spent a couple of days alone in the rubble.

At first, the team wondered how she had survived the storm, and then they saw what saved her life.

“The fallen trees landed on old cars, and we believe that’s what saved her life,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote.

The rescue crew gave her some delicious treats. The pup, later named Love Is The Answer (LITA), was starving and quickly ate the food.

The Love All Dogs Dream Of

She started trusting her rescuers and let them secure her with a leash.

Once they placed her in the car, LITA smiled, and her eyes twinkled with tears and hope.

The crew took her to the vet. Luckily, she wasn’t injured and didn’t need medical care.

After the vet removed her padlocks, LITA went to the shelter where her caregivers showered her with love.

A couple of weeks later, the sweet pup met her forever dad, who fell in love with her the moment he met her at the Missouri shelter.

Once the man signed the adoption paperwork, the two were ready to go home. LITA was so grateful to her dad that she couldn’t stop looking at him.

I’m sure that the pup will forget her traumatic past and focus on her happy future with her dad, who adores her. She deserves to enjoy life to the fullest.
