Dog Returned To Texas Shelter Watches Other Pups Get Adopted, Not Knowing ‘Her Time Is Up’

Unlike hoomans, our four-legged friends don’t have full control over their time. In fact, many shelter dogs live on a scheduled (and limited) timeline, hoping to get their chance at life before it’s too late.

And, once it’s too late, that’s about it. Their journey ends in only one way.

Recently, Sandy, a beautiful forty-pound Pittie girl, faced her inevitable end after being returned by her adoptive family. Instead of enjoying life in a forever home, Sandy sat devastated in her kennel, watching her other buddies get adopted, with her time being up.

She’s One Heartbroken Pocket Pittie

Madeline, a shelter volunteer and dog lover from Houston, Texas, was heartbroken by Sandy’s situation. After learning her story, she decided to pay Sandy a visit and share her situation with her Instagram and TikTok followers, hoping to help her get adopted.

Sandy, who was recently returned to the shelter, was put on the euthanasia list for being dog-selective and heartworm positive.

“Sandy’s deadline is in less than 24 hours. She even came in with a homemade collar. I hope someone can love her again,” Madeline wrote in the video.

While Sandy had no idea that her time was up, the video of her “peeking” at her shelter buddies while they got all the visitors’ attention was truly devastating.

“She is here at the shelter as an adoption return and staff says she should be an only dog. She is the DEFINITION of a pocket Pittie and I am SHOCKED to see that she’s 40 lbs. She’s seriously teeny teeny tiny,” added Madeline.

She calmly wagged her tail and watched in the direction of other dogs, hoping someone would eventually notice her. That, sadly, never happened. She remained overlooked and sad in her kennel, facing the inevitable.

Thanks to Madeline, the only thing Sandy received was having her due date for euthanasia extended by two days.

And, as it turned out, those two days were enough for someone to see her for who she truly was!

Last-Minute Miracle

Madeline knew Sandy’s adoption would be a long shot due to her situation, but she wanted to give this Pittie a try anyway. She just couldn’t ignore the fact that Sandy was as sweet as she could possibly be, with her sweet look and her gentle nuzzling into her body.

“I know with her heartworms and dog selectiveness she’ll be a hard sell but I know she’d make someone very happy,” Madeline says on Instagram.

Then, against all odds, it finally happened!

In only a few days, Madeline’s video reached Sandy’s new adopters, who decided to give her a chance and save her from euthanasia.

For the second time in her life, Sandy was overwhelmed with happiness, and so was her newfound friend from a Texas shelter. After all the uncertainty, Sandy’s life finally took a positive turn, and this time, it was for good.

Madeline shared this amazing update with her followers, who couldn’t be more excited about this Pittie’s new start. After all the heartbreaks in her life, Sandy is finally where she’s supposed to be. And, she couldn’t be happier!
