You can understand how sad and unwanted a shelter dog named Maddie must be feeling after spending months waiting for someone to notice her.
Ever since she arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, two-year-old Maddie has been hopeful that she would soon realize her dreams and find her forever human.
The shelter staff had every reason to think so, too. The American Staffordshire Terrier Mix was the definition of the perfect dog. She was playful, extremely affectionate, and had great manners.
And yet, Maddie was overlooked through no fault of her own, and she spent 400 days waiting for someone to fall in love with her.
Watching Other Dogs Find Happiness

Maddie often stood by her kennel door with her eyes peeled for the shelter visitors who were looking to adopt a dog.
She watched them cuddling with other pups and taking them home, wondering why they didn’t want to give her a chance.
The doggo wished she could tell them that she longed to feel loved and that she would be the best dog and the most loyal companion.
Unfortunately, all that Maddie could do was gaze at them with a wistful look in her eyes.
Every time her doggy friends left the shelter with their new parents, she couldn’t help feeling sad and unloved.
The staff and volunteers noticed her disappointment and wished they could help her realize her greatest wish.
The pup is pure love, and she loves snuggling with everyone. She deeply appreciates whenever someone stops to say hello.

Her shelter friends like to call her Marvelous Maddie.
“She’s calm, affectionate, and loves being near her people. Maddie enjoys back and butt rubs, walks well on a leash, and appears to be housetrained. She knows “sit,” doesn’t jump, and is just looking for a soft place to rest her head,” the Florida shelter wrote on Facebook.
Maddie Keeps Hoping That She Will Find Love

Spending 400 days at the shelter wasn’t easy. Her long stay was taking a toll on her, and the noisy environment was making her feel stressed.
The pup who, like all dogs, deserved to go on adventures and live a wonderful life was stuck in the shelter, unable to enjoy her youth.
Maddie’s shelter friends couldn’t stand watching how sad and anxious she was in the shelter. Luckily, they found her a loving foster home where she continues waiting for a forever home.

Whenever she goes for a walk, the doggo shows what a great explorer she is. Maddie loves sniffing around and has great leash discipline.
She turns every walk into a wonderful adventure, and she is a great furry companion.

If you’re looking to adopt a great pup who will love you to the moon and back, then Maddie is the perfect choice.
