Stormy weather can cause many problems for animals. A lot of them don’t know how to handle it, and they end up losing their shelter because of it.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a stray animal or a wild one; these tragic events affect them all the same, and they all need help afterward, but some are not so lucky.
Most people don’t really care for animals, so they are willing to just watch while the poor animals struggle to survive.
Not too long ago, a serious storm damaged a lot of animal habitats in California, and this caused problems for many animals living there.
We will talk about a particular case where a kind person found something she wasn’t expecting next to a tree that was knocked over by the bad weather.
What Is Inside The Nest?

When a tree fell in Sallysue Stein’s backyard, she was shocked to see the severity of the storm. Shortly after the weather calmed down, she got out to assess the damage.
She walked over to the tree that had fallen and started looking for nests. Considering it’s common for animals to seek shelter there, she was sure that she would find something.
After a short search, she found a nest made of twigs and looked inside. She was shocked to find four baby squirrels inside the nest.

Stein, who is the executive director of Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, told The Dodo: “My first feelings were of concern for the well-being of the babies — I hoped they didn’t get hurt in the fall.”
Shortly after finding them, Stein immediately took them to the shelter, where the rehabilitators started examining them.
They were able to quickly confirm that the baby squirrels were not injured and were in good health. This was good news, as it meant that they could be reunited with their mother soon.
Where Is Their Mother?

But, there was just one little problem. Stein only found the babies. She had no clue where their mother was or if she would even return.
The only idea that she had in mind was to go back home, place the four baby squirrels into the box, and wait until the mom comes to pick them up.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and the babies were still without their mom. Knowing that it was not a good idea to keep them outside for long, Stein took them back to the shelter.

She would take care of them until their mom hopefully returns to the yard to check up on them. There was really no way to be certain how things would turn out.
If that doesn’t happen, then the rescuers will care for the squirrels until they can be sent back into the wild.
Either way, Stein is hopeful for their future, and she will do whatever it takes to help them return to a somewhat normal life.
