Archie Bean’s shocking ordeal left everyone speechless.
At just 12 weeks old, this 5-pound Pekingese accidentally slipped through an uncovered vent in his Douglas County, Colorado home. The tiny puppy ended up trapped for three long hours.
Monique, his owner, desperately tried to find him but couldn’t pinpoint his location. She immediately called South Metro Fire Rescue.
Three Hours Of Fear
Once the call came in, first responders arrived quickly. Teams from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Plumbline Services began the rescue, but the situation was more complicated than expected.
Archie had fallen through a three-story vent hole directly into the home’s ductwork.
“I took the other dogs to go out, and so he jumped off my son’s bed and right into this hole, and my son said he could see him going like this and he tried to get him, but there’s a lot of nails and stuff,” Monique said in the rescue video posted by SMFR.
For hours, all anyone could hear were Archie’s faint, helpless whimpers echoing inside the walls.
“Every time I hear him cry, wherever I am, whichever vent I am next to, it sounds like that’s where he is. So that’s why we can’t tell where he is,” Archie’s owner said.
Rescuers had to use a small camera to navigate the ducts and locate Archie. Several wall sections were cut to gain better access.
After hours of searching, hope was fading. Then, two fearful eyes appeared on the camera: Archie was found inside the basement’s HVAC system.
Safe And Reunited
The rescue team rushed to the basement, gently lifting Archie from the ductwork and handing him to his tearful mom.
Although confused and shaken, Archie had no cuts or injuries.
“That is a prayer answered… He went from the third floor down to the basement and he doesn’t have a cut on him,” Monique told SMFR.
Following their emotional reunion, Monique expressed immense gratitude to the rescuers for their dedication and hard work.
“As Archie happily reunites with his grateful owners, the community celebrates a tale of compassion and resilience in the face of adversity,” SMFR wrote in a Facebook statement.

Archie is now safe, snuggled with his other dog siblings. Despite the terrifying experience, he will continue to enjoy life in his loving Colorado home, hopefully staying out of further mischief.
