If you are new to having a dog, remember that leaving them alone in the house may not go smoothly every time.
If they are left unsupervised, there is a good chance they will create mischief out of boredom or even frustration because you are not there.
If they have a sibling, they may work together to make a mess simply because they want to have fun. In the end, there is only so much you can do. Some dogs are naturally mischievous, and we have to accept this part of their personality.
This was certainly true for a pair of owners from Texas. They left for work believing everything was fine, only to realize that their dog was loose inside the house. What they walked into later that day was quite surprising.
Not Exactly A Total Disaster

It was a normal morning for Brian Baker and Shayla Baker as they headed to work. At some point, they realized that their dog had accidentally been left loose in the house in Texas.
Normally, Maverick stays in an enclosed space for a few hours so he will not leave chaos behind, but this time, the door had not been secured.
The owners assumed the worst, since Maverick had a reputation for being a bit of a troublemaker.
When Shayla returned home, she fully expected to find the house in ruins, but she was in for a surprise. Fortunately for her, things were not nearly as bad as she feared.

That did not mean everything was spotless. When Shayla walked inside, Maverick immediately ran over, excited to see her.
As she inspected the house, she saw that a few toys had been tossed around. This was manageable and not worth stressing about.
Then she noticed feathers scattered across the first floor. It did not take long to discover where they came from. The final oddity was a shampoo bottle that had somehow made its way to the top floor, likely carried there during one of Maverick’s solo adventures.
Considering what could have happened, the situation was mild. Perhaps this was Maverick’s gentle warning of what he might be capable of if given the chance again.
The TikTok Community Weighs In

Once the Bakers shared the scene on TikTok, viewers had plenty to say. The video quickly went viral, though not always for reasons the owners expected.
One person commented: “And if you train your dog the correct way, it wont destroy anything while you’re gone.”
There is truth to that, but even well-trained dogs can cause minor chaos if left alone for too long.
Another viewer wrote: “Crates are unnecessary.. seems mostly in the US where it is practiced. our dog never even tried to cause trouble while free roaming while we were gone even as a puppy.”

Given Maverick’s behavior, the Bakers might reconsider how often they confine him. After all, he did not cause significant damage this time.
Another user added: “Aww poor baby knew he was bad but had to take advantage of being free for the day.”
It is hard to blame him. This was his one opportunity and he made the most of it, yet he was still impressively well behaved considering his usual antics. Things might look a little different for him in the future.
