Every dog is different and requires a different approach in order to function at its best. Sometimes, it is not easy for owners to come to terms with this because they have their own life and do not have much time to devote to their pets.
In that case, the daycare is a logical solution, where experienced caretakers know what is good for dogs, and where, among other things, dogs can hang out with their furry friends.
Although this seems like an ideal solution for dogs, in reality, it only suits some of them. One owner from Michigan saw this best when she took her dog to daycare to socialize.
Instead of making friends, the dog did something completely different.
People-Oriented Dog
24-year-old Nikki Sykora is a full-time student at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. At the same time, she owns a Mini Bernedoodle named Maisy, and no matter how much she loves her, she does not have much time for her.
To avoid leaving her home alone, she decided to take her to the daycare so that she could socialize. While they were driving, everything indicated that Maisy would have a great time at the daycare because she was constantly smiling.
With this conviction, Nikki left her there and went to the University. Given that there was a camera in the daycare that recorded everything and that the owners could access the video to see what their pets were doing, Nikki decided to take a look.
She was shocked when she saw her pup doing something she had not hoped for. Namely, instead of socializing with other dogs, Maisy just sat in a corner of a daycare, isolating and looking miserable.
Nikki was a bit disappointed by her dog’s reaction to daycare, but when she thought about it, she realized that it was nothing strange for Maisy.
Her dog was actually always more people-oriented, and she soon showed that when she started spending more time with the pet sitters at the daycare than the other dogs.
Simply put… not every dog is the same and Maisy is a living example.
Numerous Reactions
Since Nikki owns an account, she decided to share her dog’s reaction to daycare with her TikTok followers by posting a clip under the nickname @niknak272727.
“Signed my puppy up for day-care so she can start making friends and socialize,” reads layover text in the clip, while the caption says: “She’s 100% my daughter though lol.”
Nikki knew that her TikTok clip would attract a lot of attention, but she could not even dream that it would be to this extent. There were numerous reactions and we decided to highlight some of the comments.
“She’s protecting her peace 🥰,” one user wrote.
“I remember bringing my shitzu to dog park and I sat on a bench to watch him play w other dogs only for him to sit next to me and watch the dogs as well 😂,” another added.
The third stated: “My puppies report card said ‘not interested in playing with the other kids’ once😭.”
Although Maisy was clearly not thrilled about spending time with other dogs, Nikki did not give up, but continued to take her to daycare twice a week.
Little by little, things changed, and now Maisy occasionally comes out of her corner into furry society, which is a big step forward!
